Costis Antoniadis: Second-hand Photographs 1985-2013

photo: www.benaki.gr
Second-hand Photographs is a collection of photographic works by Kostis Antoniadis, created between 1985 and 2013.
The works explore the conceptual changes that photographs undergo when their material becomes worn out, when the context of viewing changes, or when they adopt other visual stereotypes.
Through various approaches, the exhibition examines the relationship between photography and memory, reality and fantasy.

Kostis Antoniadis is professor of photography in the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts  in the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Athens. He studied physics and since 1974 has worked as a professional photographer. He is a founding member of the Photography Centre of Athens and since 1979 has organised and presented numerous exhibitions of Greek and foreign photographers in Greece and at international festivals abroad. He was director of the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography from 2003-2005.
